I would like to express my sincere thanks to Dr. George Yang and all the staff at the San Jose Eye Institute and Peninsula Eye Surgery Center.  During my initial consultation, Dr. Yang took the time to thoroughly explain all my questions regarding intraocular lenses (IOL).

Thanks to his detailed explanations and expertise, I am extremely satisfied with the new lenses in both of my eyes. In recent years, there have been many advancements in IOL technology, offering a wide variety of options. Dr. Yang provides an excellent breakdown of these options on the San Jose Eye Institute’s website, and I highly recommend reading his article.

Personally, I wanted lenses that would provide clear distance vision, similar to monofocal lenses, but also provide
some near-vision (at computer distance) without the issues of glare or blurriness. After discussing my options with Dr. Yang, I learned about two newer options: Vivity and Eyhance.

In March 2022, I underwent cataract surgery with Dr. Yang and chose Johnson & Johnson’s “Eyhance” IOL. With “Eyhance”, I can see far distances as clearly as with monofocal lenses, but also have some additional clarity at intermediate distances, such as for the working on the computer. My distance vision is still 20/20 in 2024, and I can also see well at arm’s length, but I need reading glasses for close distance.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the results and I’ve been enjoying my new life with Eyhance lenses. Vivity is another great IOL option. However, I chose Eyhance because I wanted the best possible distance vision without glare or blurriness. Based on my research, I understood that Eyhance might offer slightly better distance vision than Vivity.

In conclusion, cataract surgery results vary from person to person, so I highly recommend meeting with Dr. Yang to discuss the IOL options and choose the one that best suits your needs.

Dr Yang is thorough, clear, to the point, and very professional. He walked me through the entire process and clearly explained every single aspect of the surgery. He clearly explained what lenses were available and discussed the most suitable lens for me. At no point, I felt that he was rushing me through the process. I opted for a Toric lens, and now my vision in both eyes is 20/20. I was so thrilled to see the details and clarity of things around me. I am Dr Yang’s youngest patient, and I think he is the best!

Before the cataract surgery, the eye was blurry and seeing out of it was difficult. The surgery was easy and I had no problems after it was done. I see 100% better of the eye now!

My cataract surgery experience was amazing! Dr. George Yang did a fantastic job and I can see quite well out of my right eye.

I am extremely happy with the results of my cataract surgeries. I opted for the Crystalens accommodating IOL’s and they seem to be working out. My left eye was a bit over corrected and my right eye, by design, was under corrected. I can now drive, use my desktop computer, and read up close, all without glasses.

Since this was my second cataract surgery, I was well-prepared for it. Nevertheless, Dr. George Yang was both professional and personable. The procedure went flawlessly and I am now on the road to good vision.

In 1973 Dr. Joseph Decker, Dr. Ted Cohen, and Dr. Conor O’Malley saved my life when Dr. Decker diagnosed a parasitic eye disease in my right eye. Because of their above excellent medical care, I was able to achieve so much in my life. I’ve gone on to attain an undergrad degree, a masters degree, a paralegal certificate and a Louisiana Notary commission through the confidence instilled in me in spite of my vision impairment.

My left eye was blurry and dark. After the cataract surgery, my eyesight is brighter. I can see much, much better. The recovery time was very short. I elected to have the multifocal lens and it seems to be working fine both for reading and distance. Overall, awesome service and result!

I am very pleased with the outcome of my cataract surgery. My vision before cataract surgery was horrible. I can’t even begin to explain how much I was not able to function. Everyone at Peninsula Eye Surgery Center was very comforting and caring, which helped me out a lot. The procedure was like getting a manicure!

I was told by my optometrist that eventually I may need a cataract removal procedure, however I did not realize that my condition was progressing so rapidly. One day I awoke having trouble with my left eye, like looking through a very foggy window. The following day I went to visit my optometrist who told me that I need a cataract extraction; the sooner, the better to get back my normal vision.
Of course I freaked out upon learning my predicament. While I was hyperventilating and all, Dr Yang was very patient with me and assured me that  everything will be okay. He explained to me the different type of procedures and the lens type (monofocal lens) which is more common and natural.
During the scheduled day of the surgery, I was a nervous wreck again but I was reassured by the friendly and professional staff that I’m in  good hands of one of the best in Dr Yang. The procedure went very smoothly and painless, nothing close to what I had imagined. Now I can see much better than expected.  I can’t even remember when I have this kind of vision…

I was very nervous and afraid going in to my cataract surgery. After the surgery, I was relieved. It was easier than I thought. Dr. Yang was very professional and patient with me. The doctor and staff were very helpful and kind. They calmed my nerves. Now I can see more colors and see more clearly without reading glasses.

The cataract surgery went very well and all the staff was very professional and kind. My eyesight after the surgery has been so much better than I expected. I haven’t seen this well since my childhood. I appreciate all the care and now the ability to see without glasses, even being able to see the signs while driving on the freeway. Thank you!

Vision before cataract surgery: Very blurry. Able to see color, but no definite shapes. Vision after cataract surgery:  Great. Able to see distance and computer without glasses or contacts. Surgery experience: Nervous because eye stuff is scary. Surgery center and staff were very efficient and friendly. Surgery process was smooth.

All in all, the experience was very good. I did the surgery in the right eye in August 2017 and the left eye in November 2017. Staff was very knowledgeable and made one feel very comfortable. Dr. Yang is a top notch professional and knows what he is doing.

Before the cataract surgery, my vision in my right eye was terrible. Everything was not clear. Now, I can see everything so clearly! It is so wonderful. Everyone at the surgery center was so kind and thoughtful. It was very pleasant! I have recommended two of my sister-in-laws to see Dr. Yang when they need cataract surgery for their eyes.

The vision in my right eye had become increasingly blurry over the last 6 months. I had the cataract removed in my left eye 4 years ago and I knew it was time to have the procedure performed in my right eye. In consultation with Dr Yang, we decided to implant a Toric IOL to address my astigmatism and to optimized the correction for the best far vision. The procedure to remove the cataract and implant the IOL went very smoothly with no complications nor pain. Far vision in my right eye is 20/20 and I could not be happier. Thanks Dr Yang.

On 2014 I had cataract surgery on my left eye using the Tecnis Multifocal lens. I feel nervous on my left eye cataract surgery so the nurse gave me medicine to calm me down. After the operation, I can drive and I can see clearly without any eyeglass. The left eye after surgery was like a brand new eye and my right eye is still good for reading (nearsighted).

After three years my right eye deteriorates and on July 12 decided to see Dr. George Yang and he suggested to have a right eye cataract surgery. With the help of Jennifer Pelayo, she scheduled my surgery on Aug 14. The fear was change with excitement because I have done it before and the waiting is over. All the staff knows what they are doing and they made me feel relax.

Dr. George Yang installed Tecnis Multifocal lens on my right eye, now I have 20/20 vision, can see far, read books and use the computer and even read fine print without eyeglass.Thank you very much San Jose Eye Institute, you gave back my confidence!!!

The whole cataract surgery experience was very pleasant: pre-operation at San Jose Eye Institute, operation at Peninsula Eye Surgery Center, and post-operation back at his office. Cataract surgery on my left eye was a very positive experience. From the preparation in Dr. Yang’s office, to the pre-0p at the Peninsula Eye Surgery Center, to the surgery and the post-op care, everything was flawless. Even with a complication during surgery, Dr. Yang had the expertise and equipment to deal with it. There was no post-op pain or discomfort. I had a standard monofocal lens. My vision in the eye is brighter, and I am looking forward to having cataract surgery in the right eye. Yes, I would absolutely recommend Dr. Yang for any eye care needs, but especially surgery.

I had cataract surgery in my right eye. I had worn contacts for over 40 years. The surgery process was very easy and went smoothly. Initially, I was worried for the first day as my vision was cloudy. However, after one day, my vision was great. I love waking up and seeing clearly without any glasses or contacts. I am very happy with the results and the whole experience.

My eyesight before cataract surgery was blurry and it was dangerous to drive a car. After one day after the surgery, my eyesight is crystal clear. I should have done this years ago.

I would like to thank the people of San Jose Eye Institute, especially Dr Yang, for his expertise and constant reassurance that this cataract surgery would be easy and very good procedure that would greatly enhance my vision. I had the symphony toric lens placed in both eyes over a four month period and now my vision is spot on and now I can see golf balls as they are hit. Surgery was quick with a slight sedative that help sleep through the surgery. Thank you all.

My experience with eye surgery was great. Before my surgery, I could not see. Everything was very blurry. I could not drive at all or watch T.V. Since my surgery, I can see very clear. I am very happy. Dr. George Yang is the best!

I had cataract surgery 4/20/17. A standard monofocal lens was implanted in my right eye. The staff at both the Di Salvo office and the Surgery Center were very professional, and informative which put my mind immediately at ease. All I had to do was follow their lead. My family practice physician referred me to Dr. Yang three years ago, and I’ve been delighted with the care I’ve received. When cataracts began to interfere with my ability to live as I would like, Dr. Yang reviewed options for treatment with me and made sure I had all the information I needed to choose the best lens for the way I live. My first cataract was removed four weeks ago, and I chose the Symfony lens with distance capability. Three days ago, my other cataract was removed and replaced with a Symfony lens adjusted for near vision. Before surgery, I couldn’t read street signs, do needlework easily or read with as much enjoyment as in the past. After the first surgery, I could work at my computer without tiring, read newspaper crossword definitions more easily than in several years and see individual trees rather than a green blur in the country. Now, with the near-focus lens, my vision continues to improve every day. I can read without a bright light, and I’ve even reduced the type size on my iPhone. Over the years, my vision changed so much that I had literally lost sight of what it’s like to see clearly. Now I’m seeing the world in a new light, and I’m grateful for Dr. Yang and his expertise and for the staffs at San Jose Eye Institute and Peninsula Eye Surgery.
